eume, short for eumelanin was the third installment of an interactive exhibition trilogy forthe Overtown Music and Arts Festival.
eume celebrated brown and black skin tones, allowing festival-goers to draw themselves into their city's fabric.
The piece was constructed from two 6x6' hexagons and three 5' pentagons. An aerial view of the exhibition mimicked the composition of eumelanin, the specific melanin that creates brown and black skin tones.

eume (you-me), short for eumelanin is the specific melanin that creates Black and Brown skin tones. eume is a celebration of complexion, primarily ones that have historically been underrepresented and undercelebrated. Festival attendees interact with eume by finding a face that resembles theirs and drawing themselves into the community quilt.
