eume, short for eumelanin was the third installment of an interactive exhibition trilogy forthe Overtown Music and Arts Festival.
eume celebrated brown and black skin tones, allowing festival-goers to draw themselves into their city's fabric.
The piece was constructed from two 6x6' hexagons and three 5' pentagons. An aerial view of the exhibition mimicked the composition of eumelanin, the specific melanin that creates brown and black skin tones.
Bound Together
Norwegian professors, scholars, and artists wore paperclips as a symbol of resistance against the Nazi occupation during World War II. They referred to these markers as binders, signifying citizens were bound together against the regime.
After the 2024 election results came in, and Elon gave his salute, I began thinking what it meant to be a body in these United States. What it would mean for people who had citizenship papers and those who didn't. Bound Together unifies us as people to resist regardless of status. We The People must stand up for us the people.
